Ernie
Maxwell was brought up in the Assembly of God churches and called to
preach at an early age. He's been in Christian ministry all
his adult life. He started out in Evangelism and later pastored
several Churches.
He went to Nashville to demonstrate a
specially-designed guitar ( floating-neck guitar). Chet Atkins was
very impressed not only with the guitar, but Ernie's picking as
well. Chet immediately booked him on a syndicated television show
called the "Bobby Lord Show."
Later he moved to Nashville as Billy
Walker's lead guitarist, but wasn't comfortable playing outside
gospel music. He then became Jimmy Snow's Assistant Pastor in
Nashville. After being there a while, he joined The Happy
Goodman Family as lead guitarist, and was with them for three years.
He then pastored for several years and was
asked to join Jimmy Swaggart. Upon resigning Swaggart Ministries, he
once again entered pastoral ministry and has been since 1980. He
presently is associate pastor with his father-in-law, Joe Nash, in
Houston, Texas.
Ernie has a wife, JoEllen, 2
children, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. |
